Crust: 4 – very good, like a nutty shortbread. It was moist and held together really well without being crumbly.
Filling: 5 – cream cheese, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream. I don’t see anything wrong with this
Overall: 4 – my mom used to make this. She called it Dutch Pudding, and I have never seen it anywhere else. So this was a nice surprise. It was a very good combination with the rich chocolate, tangy cream cheese, and light whipped cream. The nuts go really well with the whole thing.
Haha it actually was called Possum Pie- I thought that was a joke 😂 I love it! We call it Dutch Pudding. Crust- 3, Filling- 5, overall- 4. I love the creamy pudding filling, and the nutty crust but would have done slightly less crust to pudding ratio.
Filling 3. Very sweet winter spice with flavor. Consistency of quiche or a German pancake. Crust 3. Absorbed by the filling and caramelized on the bottom from the sugary filling soaking through. Overall 3. I wouldn’t regard this a “pie” in the traditional sense, more like a pastry.k
Possum Pie: 5
Fabulous crust with nuts crumbled on top of it. Smooth chocolate cream layer with a canopy of whip cream.
Crust: 5 I feel like nuts add a new dimension to any recipe. Their texture and flavor create just the right amount of “umph” to any recipe, as it does this crust.
Filling: 4 You can’t go wrong with chocolate, right? For me, I like my chocolate to have a little more backbone and not be so fluffy, hence the 4.
Overall: 4 This is a great pie! Fun to make and delightful to eat!
